Intresting news from Denmark

http://sciencenordic.com/legendary-viking-town-unearthed

Very exiting find discovered by archaeologists from Aarhus university. I just wonder why they decided that it is Silbersthorp, as few years ago I read It was an other name for Hedeby. However, it is completely irrelevant what was the town's name, that's just cool that it's there :). Maybe they will find remains of the merchants form Reric (as some people claim - Gross Strömkendorf in Germany) , transferred there brutally by Godfred.
By the way it is very interesting why archaeologists have this urge to tie the site to a place with a name known from historical sources, and what are the evidence for doing so. Is just publicity the reason, or is it faith that they are right? Why just don't use site names in viking age archaeology? Pinning down a settlement like that have to be almost always a longshot.
