It is interesting to see a change in thinking about people that constituted the majority in the viking age:

I think that researchers are getting closer to dismantle the supposed "monolith" of "viking culture". The more "individual" approach is needed, as I think that viewing the Vikings as more or less homogenous is the consequence of the research directed towards investigating the remains of the "over-class". It is nice to see that not always people that were not significant during their life time are treated as not significant in the archaeological record.
